MY JOURNEY: THE ROAD TO CREATIVE SUCCESS

GRADE SCHOOL YEARS

If you really know me, you know I’ve always been the creative type! I was that girl rocking the brightest colors and designing my own custom clothes all through middle and high school. I’ve been obsessed with graphics and design from the start—so much so that I taught myself HTML and built my first website in 4th grade. Yes, you read that right... 4th grade!

Oh, and if you remember Myspace, I was the one custom coding all the coolest layouts. It kinda became my thing, and a lot of people got to know me because of it. Fun fact: my husband actually slid into my Myspace DMs in 2006, and we’ve been together ever since! High school sweethearts, all thanks to a good layout.

In high school, I took my design game up a notch by enrolling in ATC’s (Advanced Technology Center) graphic design program—basically, tech college for high schoolers. That’s where I really honed my skills, landed an internship, and even started making extra cash with freelance design gigs.

COLLEGE YEARS

After high school, I jumped into studying graphic design at Old Dominion University, but life threw me a curveball—I had to switch majors if I wanted to graduate on time. So, after sophomore year, I made the switch to art, and let me tell you, it was one of the best decisions ever! I took my first painting class and was hooked. Turns out, I had this hidden talent for painting I never even knew about! It came so naturally, and I was shook.

Fast forward to my senior art show—that’s when it really hit me: I could actually do this art thing as a career. Before graduating with my Fine Arts degree, my husband and I even started our own lifestyle brand called Strive & Grind. This was back in the early days of blogs and social media, around 2012-2013, so we were making moves—blogging, dropping YouTube videos about college, success, entrepreneurship, and more, and even launching a college chapter at ODU. It was a wild ride!

MY 20's

This is where life took a crazy, amazing turn. Within three years of graduating, my husband’s corporate job had us bouncing from Pittsburgh to Boston, and finally to sunny San Diego. It was an adventure! But the real game-changer? Within our first year in San Diego, we both quit our day jobs to become full-time entrepreneurs. We hired a business coach, rebranded Strive & Grind into a full-blown branding agency, and even snagged an office downtown.

During that time, I put all things art on hold. I was deep in the hustle—grinding, making money, and living that entrepreneur life. We spent most of our 20s in masterminds, speaking at conferences, getting featured on podcasts, and even TV. I co-authored a book with some seriously badass women entrepreneurs too!

But while business was thriving, something was missing. I wasn’t painting, and honestly, it was eating me up inside. I started to lose touch with the part of me that came alive when I was creating. I knew I needed to get back to what truly fueled my soul—getting paint on canvas.

MY 30's (NOW)

Shortly after COVID, I made the move from San Diego to Houston, TX, and honestly, I’ve been loving every second of it! We decided to dissolve our branding company after an incredible 8 years, and I went all-in on my true passions—painting and content creation.

There’s nothing I love more than painting giant ass murals all over cities across the country. And the best part? When friends and family come to visit, they get to see my work right here in town. It’s like having my own outdoor gallery! When I'm not working on murals, I’m busy creating personal art collections and custom masterpieces for my VIP clients.

I also enjoy making content for artists and creatives—it’s what fuels my passion for teaching and helping others grow. This journey has even led me to collaborate with some amazing brands like Google, Comcast, Shein, Microsoft, DirecTV, Urban Decay, and so many more!

I’m loving every moment of this wild ride—and trust me, I’m just getting started!
